Recently voted ‘the most desirable place to live in Britain’ once you visit this beautiful Island you will understand why.
The house is located on the west coast of Skye in the Glendale Estate, situated a 15 minute drive from Dunvegan and a 50 minute drive from Portree. Views of the Outer Hebrides will greet you on a clear morning and there is a wealth of wildlife to be seen including eagles, dolphins, whales, basking sharks, otters and kestrels. A 5-10 minute drive away is the multiple award winning Three Chimneys Restaurant and a 5-10 minute drive in the other direction will take you to one of Skye’s most famous, and Britains highest, cliff walk at Neist Point Lighthouse. In Glendale itself there is a post office which stocks fresh produce as well as a wealth of hardware goods. There are also two very good cafes, Cafe Lephin and the Red Roof Cafe. The nearest full size supermarket’s are the Co-op’s in Portree and Broadford. Dunvegan also has a selection of small shops and restaurants, most notably the Old School Restaurant.
The house itself is a home that has been in our family for over 100 years and in the lounge you will see a selection of it’s previous owners. It has been recently refurbished to a high standard whilst still maintaining many of its best features. You will find a very well stocked kitchen with a gas range cooker, a dining room and separate living room which share a two way wood burning stove for cosy nights in and a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Leading out from the dining room are patio doors to a decked area with seating to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean and the glen. There is one king sized bedroom downstairs as well as a bathroom with shower. Upstairs there is a king sized bedroom and another bedroom with two singles beds and a bathroom with bath and shower facilities. There is a walled garden around the front of the house and at the rear there is a small, natural waterfall. Sheep roam freely around the property as they have done for generations.

House Rules
No smoking inside the property but we do have a decking area in the garden which can be used for this purpose.
Pets are allowed but please note there are sheep roaming freely all round the property and for this reason dogs should be kept on a lead at all times when leaving the property. This is particularly important during the months of April to July when there are pregnant sheep and young lambs. In addition, we request pets are kept downstairs to minimise the mess.
The house is heated using an oil tank situated near the property. There will be ample oil to heat the house throughout your stay. However, to the right of the side entrance is a small oil reader plugged into the wall. If you notice the level becoming very low please contact me and I will arrange a top up.
We have a gas range cooker in the kitchen. We have two gas canisters at the rear of the property to ensure plenty supply. If one of the tanks empty, please go to the rear of the property and switch the …..
As we are in a rural area, the plumbing all leads to a septic tank. These systems are very fragile so it is important not to flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet. No sanitary products/cotton buds etc.
Bins are collected on a Friday and we request you put the appropriate bin out on a Thursday evening.
